Ways to Get Rats out of Your Bedroom

The rat may look small but once you see them scurrying all over your bedroom, the situation will not be that sweet. You will also not appreciate it once you notice their presence in your cabinets and drawers. It will be difficult to catch a rest if you know that there is a rat inside your room. There are different methods that you can use to successfully get rid of them.

Trapping the Rat
In case you notice a rat that is running in the corner of your room, you need to determine where the vermin went. The rats are agile creatures and it might not be wise to chase them all over your bedroom. Tracking them and setting up trap might help you get rid of them. On the off chance that it would be hard to track them, pay attention to the signs of their presence. This may include the rub marks, the nesting materials, and droppings of the rats.

Once you determine their path, you may set-up a live trap that enables you to capture them without killing the poor creature. After capturing them, seal the access point of the rats and release them outside your house. Depending on the laws in your municipality, you may not be allowed to release the creature away from the place where you capture them.

Hazing Method
If the rat accidentally ends up inside your bedroom, simple hazing method may encourage them to leave the room. For instance, you can create loud noise that will startle them. Most of the time, the rat inside the room will be in panic and be confused. They want to immediately get out of the space. Simply opening the door that leads outside will direct them to the outdoor. In case you choose this technique, there is a possibility that the rat will return inside the house. If the house is not properly sealed, hazing method will only provide you a short-term result.

Keeping Them Outside
If there is a gap between the floor and the base of the door, the rat can use this to enter your bedroom. You may want to purchase a door seal that you can attach at the base of the door. This can be availed at your local hardware store. Apart from the door, look for the other cracks and gaps in your house that the rat can use to invade our property.

Finally, you should also get rid of the elements that are attracting the interest of the rat. Be sure to keep your trash can covered. Place the perishable items on the base of the trashcan. Clean the exterior of your garbage can to eliminate the waste residue. Trim down the grasses and shrubs in your lawn. Get rid of the piles of wood or store them above the ground. Clear the fallen fruits and if possible get rid of the birdfeeders in your yard. Keeping your house free from clutter will make your property less hospitable to rats.
